What is Sikh Rehat Maryada?
The Sikh Rehat Maryada is the official Code of Conduct and Conventions for Sikhs, ratified by Akal Takht Sahib and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). It provides a standardized guide for living a disciplined Gurmukh lifestyle both individually and within the community.
Personal Discipline (Shakhsi Rehani)
Arising during Amrit Vela (early dawn), daily Nam Simran, recitation of the 5 Nitnem Banis, maintaining high moral character, and adhering to Gurmat ethics.
Panthic Discipline (Panthic Rehani)
Gurdwara protocols, active participation in Sangat (congregation) & Pangat (community kitchen), Ardas, Amrit Sanskar (initiation), and Anand Karaj (matrimony).
The 5 Ks (Panj Kakar)
Five sacred articles of faith required for initiated Sikhs: Kesh (uncut hair), Kangha (wooden comb), Kara (steel bracelet), Kachera (cotton undergarment), and Kirpan (sacred sword).

Nitnem & Banis
Morning prayers: Japji Sahib, Jaap Sahib, Tav Prasad Savaiye, Chaupai Sahib, Anand Sahib; Evening: Rehras Sahib; Night: Sohila Sahib.
Gurdwara & Sangat Conduct
Accepting Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as the eternal living Guru, covering head, participating in Ardas, and equality in Langar.
Amrit Sanskar (Khande Di Pahul)
Initiation into the Khalsa Panth administered by the Panj Piare (Five Beloved Ones) established by Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
